General information
Professional and short courses issue certificates bearing the ANU brand. The College is required to report all Professional and Short Courses run each year to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee (AQAC) and Academic Board.
These offerings are not proposed through the Curriculum Management System. The College has created a professional and short course pro-forma template that enables proposers to make sure proposal is compliant with the associated policy and procedure.
All work developing the course is undertaken at the school and the general workflow should include:
- An idea or opportunity for a new professional course emerges. The proposer must explore the impact in terms of resourcing, administration, workload capacity of the teaching staff and support staff within the offering school. All consultations and approvals should be documented in the consultation record of the pro-forma. It is recommended that this include approval of the School Director, School Manager and School Education Committee (or Associate Director (Science) Education)
- If approved by the relevant School authorities, the proposal is submitted to the College Education Sub Committee (science.curriculum@anu.edu.au)
- The College Education Sub Committee will review the proposal and provide feedback to the school.
- Once all feedback is resolved, the proposal can be approved by the Associate Dean (Education).
- Once approved, the proposal is noted at the next College Education Committee.
