The College of Science and Medicine have adopted a uniform model for calculation of teaching activity. The estimates of teaching activity may be used for the following purposes:

• To be used within Schools for assigning and managing teaching workloads;
• To inform discussion of ‘Education’ activities in the staff PDR process;
• To inform discussion of ‘Education’ activities in the staff promotions process;
• To provide transparency with regard to relative teaching loads within and between Schools;
• To calculate the relative contributions from different Schools to a course to which multiple Schools contribute, and thereby inform the distribution of funding between Schools.
